The ones I helped that I thought would take advantage have been very grateful and expect nothing more. Im in my late 50’s, almost 60, female, and I am helping to do home remodeling. It’s honestly to much on me and I hurt and can’t move for days. Today I raked gravel out, and prayed to Jesus for strength to finish. Relatives half my age won’t help lift an empty trash bag.

Republicans in December 2017 also passed a tax cut projected to add more than $1 trillion to the debt over a decade after leaders gave up on creating a plan that wouldn’t increase the debt under the Senate’s scoring rules.
At the time, McConnell told reporters, “I not only don’t think it will increase the deficit, I think it will be beyond revenue-neutral.” He added, “In other words, I think it will produce more than enough to fill that gap.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York responded Tuesday by saying McConnell and other Republicans “blew a $2 trillion hole in the federal deficit to fund a tax cut for the rich. To now suggest cutting earned middle-class programs like Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid as the only fiscally responsible solution to solve the debt problem is nothing short of gaslighting.”

PhRMA brokered a deal with Senate Democrats and the White House in the early summer of 2009. Since then, drug spending has spiked to historically high levels — 2014 saw the biggest increases in more than decade. The hikes were fueled by Obamacare’s coverage expansion, a wave of new treatments and industry chutzpah. It’s not just breakthrough drugs that are soaring. Drugmakers are hiking prices of older medicines too; pharma bad boy Martin Shkreli’s 5,000 percent increase of the AIDS drug Daraprim. The Obama administration has few ways of confronting drug costs — and critics of the 2009 health law deal say it tied their hands. Once PhRMA signed on to the 2009 bill, it ultimately spent $150 million in advertising to support it, largely to prop up vulnerable lawmakers who were backing health reform. If PhRMA had tapped that war chest to fight the bill, it would have sunk the effort, supporters of the deal said. The drug industry supported Obama care, and, according to documents released by House Republicans, got democrats to not seek Medicare rebates opposed by drugmakers. The administration helped defeat an attempt to let patients import lower-cost drugs from abroad. Obama’s health care law provided makers of cutting-edge biologic drugs 12 years of protection from generic competitors, not a shorter period sought by consumer advocates.
Americans are paying more for prescription drugs under Obamacare. Health care costs have ballooned under Obamacare, with prescription drugs leading the way. According to a report by S&P.
drug costs rose by nearly 16 percent in 2015. Spending on drugs in the individual insurance market – where Obamacare plans are sold – rose an astonishing 50 percent.
Obamacare plans have narrow networks of doctors, narrower lists of covered drugs, and higher out-of-pocket costs for the drugs that are covered.
Out-of-pocket expenses for prescription drugs in the most popular type of exchange plan are twice as high as they are in the average employer-sponsored plan.
A report from Emory University last fall found out-of-pocket expenses for medications in a typical Obamacare silver plan are twice as high as they are in the average employer-sponsored plan.
Another way Obamacare contributes to rising drug prices is that Obamacare imposed a new tax on manufacturers and importers of prescription medicine. The tax was designed to raise $27 billion in just the first 10 years of the law. Democrats don’t like to admit that raising taxes leads to higher prices, but that is what happens.
During President Obama’s tenure, Big Pharma enjoyed one of their best stock market runs in history. In fact, the Pharma Stock ETF (XPH) below more than tripled during the Obamacare run.
In the first seven months of 2019, drugmakers raised list prices for brand-name prescription medicines by a median of 5%. That’s down from about 9% or 10% over those months the prior four years, the AP found. From January through July this year, there were 4,483 price hikes, down 36% from that stretch in 2015.
Many of this year’s brand name price increases were under 5%, and some drugmakers haven’t raised prices for over a year.

@Gavin Coleman You don’t have a clue. My British friend in his early 30s has COPD because he could not get seen in a timely manner for simple bronchitis. You have to wait a long time to see a doctor. Waiting time and time again to get treated for respiratory infections caused scars in his lungs. Canada’s system is horrible too. I have snowbird neighbors here that were going to have to wait 10 months to get Orthopedic surgery in Canada. They came here to US and had the surgery in 2 weeks.
