It would be nice to simply find a real doctor.
What does that mean? Doctors care about their paycheck just the same as everyone else does.
It was always my understanding that it was illegal for doctors to bill Medicare patients whatever they felt like. If a doctor doesn’t accept assignment but sees Medicare patients, that doctor can only bill excess charges which is 15% above and beyond what the Medicare allowed amount is. If doctors still didn’t like that 15% above and beyond the allowable amount, then doctors had to refuse seeing anyone on Medicare.
