What is Medicare Deductible?
We have to talk about three different specific parts of Medicare to talk about the deductibles. As you might or might not know, a deductible is the amount that a policyholder must pay before the insurance company will start to pay claims.
Part A Deductible: Hospital
So let’s talk about Part A. Part A is one of the 4 Parts of Medicare. Part A is for hospitals. Have a look here on the screen, the deductible as of the date of this video which is 2017 is $1316. Part A is going to cover for you with anything to do with hospitals.
Part B Deductible: Doctor /Outpatient Services
Now let’s discuss the deductible for Part B which is for doctors and outpatient visits. Part B deductible as of today is $183 annually. Deductibles are always in annual basis.
Part D Deductible: Prescription Drug Plan
Part D is prescription drug plan. Not every single drug plan in Medicare will have a deductible but Medicare ensures that there is a cap. There is no insurance company can have more than a $400 deductible as of the time of this article in 2017.
So those are the three areas that we need to talk about deductibles. Part A hospitals, Part B doctor / outpatient and then Part D prescriptions.
