  1. I love Dr. Martin! She has been testifying before Congress for years and putting the Republicans in their place. Thanks for speaking the truth.

    • No, everyone in the world should watch it. Not just America. To fully recognize the fallacy in the American exceptionalism logic, you should see the arguments presented by the country right across the boarder who has a similar society set up to the US but does things much better

    • also watch Micheal Moore’s movie SICKO, it is embarrassing to see the corruption all the way to the congress and senate. pocket padding

    • this video must be watched by every person in the world -Only to discover how deluded americans are and to be wary of neocon scum in our own countries

    • well yeah paolo. Americans have been fed drivel for 70+ years about “free markets, even to their own detriment. Fighting back against that is important

  2. i’m canadian, it’s not easy to explain to americans how universal health care actually works. Dr. martin does a great job, it’s hard for canadians to understand how the US system works, it doesn’t make sense to us

    • Ronald Davis – please explain how any of the Republican proposals to replace Obamacare are better. The Republicans continue to have no solution except to give a massive tax break to the rich and throw tens of millions of people off insurance coverage. Do you have even the vaguest clue why they don’t have any ideas? It’s because Obamacare was the Republican plan. It was devised and originally sketched out by the Heritage Foundation, a republican Think Tank. It was first implemented in Massachusetts by Republican Governor Mitt Romney. I certainly agree that the Democrats should have gone for single-payer 8 years ago, but they did not feel they had the political capital to pass such a sweeping change. Medical bills are the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the United States. If you have a solution to fix that problem, by all means please lay it out for us. But until you can bring something better to the table, enough with the empty excuses and complaints.

  3. As I’m watching this I took off my sock to check on my broken foot, which I had to care for myself because I can’t afford several thousand dollars just to get an x-ray and a boot. How crazy is that? Something this simple costs several months of paychecks combined. Just gotta hope it heals and doesn’t get worse since I work on my feet all day. This bill needs to pass so we don’t have to be afraid of going to the doctor when we need care.

    • I’m sorry to hear that. My daughter hurt her foot and got an appointment with our family doctor that day. He thought it was broken so he wrote a requisition for xrays. They called on the way to check the wait times at a couple places she could have them done and got lunch on the way. 45 minutes later she was home. The xrays were checked by a specialist and both those and the report were sent to our family doctor electronically…it wasn’t broken so we had the option of bringing her back in to have it taped but we’re pro at that so I did it myself.

And yup, this is how the health care system works in Nova Scotia, Canada…if you live in a city. Driving times would differ depending on where you live.

We hope you get coverage…even better than ours so we can push our governments to cover the rest of health care.

    • Carlos If Jasmine can’t work she can’t pay tax which AFFECTS YOU moron. If you have insurance and need treatment that is greater than your premiums someone else is PAYING FOR YOU! Carlos you are very stupid and merely repeating an ignorant alt right line. Educate yourself!

    • Jasmine In the UK you dial 999, ask for an ambulance. It takes you to ER and you get treated. No money wasted checking insurance cover, sending bills etc. Cost to you = $0

    • Jasmine Marquez send a letter to President Trump and tell him you would like a single payer system and why. He is willing to listen and its a great opportunity for Americans to change their healthcare.

  4. Can you imagine the increase in support for Medicare for all if our shitty media just played this one interview.
Money out of Politics is the # 1 issue … 2nd should be to get rid of our monopolize media that doesn’t report real news.

    • MA so don’t watch MSM & vote Green Party = 2 problems solved but you must be willing to help yourself first not be a victim waiting for others to do it for you

    • M A – This is why Net Neutrality is absolutely crucial to the survival of our republic. With it, we can have sources outside the MSM, without it, corporations will silence all dissent.

    • will never happen every other commercial is a fucking pharmaceutical ad if the MSM said anything pro single payer the pharma companies would pull their ad dollars

  5. There are still 76 Reps in the House and 2 Dem delegates not on Board as well as 31 Senators: CALL THEM demand they support Medicare for All hr676 in the House and S1804. Medicare for All Act

    • chickendinner2012, sadly this won’t get done this session or the next or the next. But the ball is rolling, and once it gets going, it can’t be stopped.

  6. It’s too bad that no MSM channel would do a comprehensive interview with an expert on Single Payer healthcare like this. Most people who watch TYT already understand that Single Payer is the most cost effective system.

    • Mark Green Absolutely, they bring some assclown up there to spew propaganda on the MSM Channnels. On occasion they may bring people with strong support for it but they always have some way of overshadowing or belittling them.

  7. Think about those billions Big Pharm alone is making in profit all go back into local economies . Huge savings from property taxes on homeowners & businesses , also more cash flow . We don’t need Inc. Co. & Pharm ripping us off anymore .

    • Think about Big Pharma having to negotiate prices for the entire American market with just one entity. Talk about collective bargaining!

    • I think there may be programs for low income people, but definitely not for everyone.
My mom is diabetic and spends hundreds of dollars on her prescriptions every month.
I had a dental cleaning yesterday and an hour cost $350. Luckily I have insurance through my work, so I’ll get reimbursed $275 of that, but my parents are self employed, so they have none of that.

    • but the point isnt full coverage, its costs of care. your mom still pays less than a third of the u. s. I was self employed in the past, and it does present somr issues, but its a choice. we STILL dont pay for appointments, etc. an appointment costs seventy plus dollars just for an appointment. iD suggest a company health plan for them. i used it and it lowered premiums by quite a lot.

    • I just think that they should start expanding the coverage offered. They’ve already announced Pharmacare for everyone under 24, so hopefully it would take another year or two for everyone to be covered. Plus, dental is very important for preventative care (gum disease can get really serious) so I think cleanings, fillings, and braces should be covered (nothing cosmetic like veneers and whitening, or course). My parents grew up in Yugoslavia, which obviously had it’s issues as a communist country, but they’ve told me that the health system over there was much better than what we have here. My dad was in Bosnia a month ago and he got four teeth fixed for $100. That would be thousands here! And we lived in Germany for 6 years too, which is another country with better coverage (all prescriptions cost $5 flat!)So with my family’s experience, the Canadian system is a downgrade, but it’s obviously much better than what the US has.

  8. I think one of the core downfalls was when the US population just started eating up the propaganda a few decades ago. Created a great opportunity for the corporatists to move in and take over.

    • Commercial for profit media and entertainment has distracted and dumbed down the US public. People know more about what celebrities are dating than anything regarding public policy.

    • @Wendell Wright It is true that pop culture is a large distraction to many Americans, but even back in the 50’s and 60’s there was pop culture, the biggest problem is when the Democratic party , put their focus on big money donors in the 90’s and began ignoring the voices of the constituents. They seemed to get this attitude that they didn’t need the people anymore because they could get campaign fiances from donors, however they seemed to forget they also needed votes. They silenced any truly progressive voices that challenged the direction of the party. They failed to really push for any legislation that was meaningful to the average American’s life, look over the last couple of decades, legislation has been about strengthening corporations, on the promise that it would create jobs, where are those jobs now. They allowed outsourcing, bad trade deals, they have done as little as they can get away with, for the sake of their donors. The Republicans at least try to push their agenda, as monstrous as it is. I mean what is the current agenda of the Dem party? Business as usual? This is why I left the Dem party and became an independent during the Clinton years, I came back to support Bernie but went right back to independent after the election. If the Dem party wants to earn my vote they will have to not only tell me how they will make life better for all Americans, they will have to prove to me they will fight for that change.

  9. Nomi is a treasure. Her insider approach has gotten her a lot of criticism from some progressives who wanna just burn down the whole Democratic Party house. People call her a fake progressive and so on. Meanwhile, we get to see some inner-workings of the party, get a sense of how things are moving, and now she’s arming us with a rock-solid defense for one of our top issues. I hope people appreciate what an asset she’s been since she was hired.

Save this video, folks. The propaganda machine will be fighting us hard on single-payer, and not just from the right. I don’t know about you, but my own father is gonna believe whatever Fox News tells him about Medicare For All, and the same will be true for other people when the neoliberals come to try to stop MFA as well. We are at our core a grassroots movement. So don’t back down from defending against the lies in conversation with those you know.

  10. I am registered blind. About five years ago I noticed my hearing was deteriorating. All I have to do is go to my doctor ask for a referral to an audiologist for the hearing assessment. I had to go to one of two tests but within 12 weeks I got two fantastic heering aids from our fantastic NHS in the UK. They have made a profound difference to my quality of life. And for that I am profoundly grateful to our NHS. it was paid for by taxes, and I did not have to worry about whether I could afford it, and possible bankruptcy on the horizon

    • CORIANDER PHLEGM. What are you talking about, you don’t even have a job, do you? Personally, I am happy for taxes to be used to provide universal health care. Once you pay your taxes, it is no longer your money anyway. Deal with it.
