Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs (11/1/2013)

Update: The Medicaid Incentive Program (no longer both the Medicare and Medicaid Incentive Programs) requires that only credentialed medical assistants and licensed health care professionals are permitted to enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the CPOE system for meaningful use calculation purposes.

  1. If an eligible professional claims an exception with (CMS approval), the EP will become ineligible to receive an incentive payment and will be exempt from any penalties. Although program penalties are not applied until CY 2015, one must achieved stage 1 of the MU requirement to avoid penalty.
