  1. These corporate democrats get it. Whitehouse, Harris, Booker and Gillibrand all on board. Pseudo republicans like Joe Manchin and Clair McCaskill will be voted out in 2018 because they won’t get behind it.

  2. I am skeptical of both Harris & Booker. If they talk about how they will fight for Medicare for All everytime he/she opens his/her mouth when a camera is on him/her it will be more believable. Of course, as long as they are in the pocket of big businesses and PAC money I cannot believe them. I don’t think it matters if they don’t take money from insurance/pharma. I think if they take money from corporate donors they will remain suspect. You just cannot take corporate money. Other corporations could quietly say we will make up for the other guys. We will take care of you, just don’t throw our buddies under the bus.

  3. I think Emma did a good job here. If nothing else, at least the rhetoric of medicare for all is spreading. Personally, I think Kamala Harris and Cory Booker, etc. are trying to distance themselves from the Clintonites for political reasons by sponsoring a bill they know full well wouldn’t pass through congress. But Emma is also right, it’s interesting to see how this dynamic plays out. It’ll be interesting to watch Booker and others appeal to the progressive wing of the Democratic party in 2020 by saying “I stood side by side with Bernie Sanders three years ago in fighting for medicare for all! … ” Freakin’ dems. Wish socialists had power.

  4. At least some Democrats are learning what happened in 2016. The American People are down and out, the American People are fed up. Obamacare did a little, but still people are going bankrupt or even dying without health care. Americans are still choosing between getting a prescription and paying the rent, the electric bill, etc. Hillary is still running around fighting against what the people want in favor of her corporate donors. At least this should be the end of Hillary being able to run again.

  5. Sen. Booker supports medicare for all, but yet he rejects Bernie’s proposal to buy or import prescription medications from canada or other countries to lower prices? wtf

  6. “Despite Hillary Clinton saying he’s pie-in-the-sky…[Bernie Sanders] has pushed the party to where the people are…At least on this one issue he has been so overwhelmingly successful, so much more successful than President Obama ever was or ever tried to be. It’s unbelievable.”

No, what’s unbelievable is that we have a political system where what’s taken for granted in the rest of the advanced world—universal, not-for-profit health care—has been viewed as a complete impossibility for so long.

Bernie Sanders deserves every ounce of credit for this but what he did was not particularly hard—it’s not hard to say “Every other advanced country has this. Why don’t we—the richest country in the world?” and have people agree. What’s _really_ unbelievable—but entirely understandable, given our political system—is that such a thing is viewed as “unbelievable.”

  7. Here’s my thing: if these people were primaried and destroyed, or eventually voted out and replaced with Berniecrats, then we replace their sponsorships with other sponsorships, PLUS sponsorships for other policy ideas. I’m not impressed by them jumping in here. Like. At all.
