Medicare Supplement Plan N Benefits Clearly Explained
Today I am going to talk about a relatively new supplement plan called Plan N . I like Medigap Plan N, it’s a good plan, and it’s designed for somebody who may not want as much coverage as a Medicare Supplement Plan F but also doesn’t like some things about a Medicare Advantage Plan (MAPD). With this Medicare Plan N you will have 4 out of pocket expenses.
1-You will have to pay your small annual Medicare Part B deductible which it is currently $166 (in 2016)
2-After you have paid for that deductible you will have up to a $20 co-pay for a visit to your Doctor (primary or specialist) office.
3- You will also have a $50 co-payment when you visit a hospital. Now if you are admitted to the hospital during that visit then your copayment is waived and your expenses will be covered 100% under Part A.
4-The only “catch” to a Plan N supplement is what is called a Part B excess charge. That is the charge that if a Doctor wants to charge more than what Medicare has approved for the procedure you are getting done, they are allowed to charge up to 15% more. If you have a Plan N then you will have to pay that excess charge.
