In honor of the recent celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Medicare on July 30th, National Government Services has released an exciting new video to help share valuable resources to your Medicare patient, the Medicare beneficiary. The video directs providers and suppliers on how to share valuable resource information to Medicare beneficiaries…your patients as well as their caregivers. These resources will help Medicare beneficiaries better understand their Medicare benefits or resources to call if they have additional questions or needs.

In the recent celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Medicare on July 30th, National Government Services wanted to share valuable resources for Medicare beneficiaries with our Medicare providers and suppliers. These resources will help beneficiaries better understand their Medicare benefits.
Medicare information is available through these key resources:
– 1-800-MEDICARE, The official CMS helpline that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;
– The Medicare & You handbook, mailed each fall to all Medicare households;
– Go to websites at www.medicare.gov and www.shiptacenter.org;
– Beneficiary Fact Sheets, which you can visit by clicking in the description box below; and
– Beneficiary Counseling Groups such as the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)
State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is a free counseling service provided by the Administration for Community Living and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services/Department of Insurance to assist Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers with Medicare information. Every state has a SHIP program, but it may be called a different name.
SHIP helps answer questions about Medicare, Medicare Supplement Insurance, Medicare Advantage (managed care programs) Medicare Part D, long term care financing options, prescription coverage, and low-income assistance. SHIP provides free, impartial information to help consumers make decisions regarding their health care choices. Each SHIP strives to help Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers to be wise consumers and to get the most value for their health insurance dollars.
Have your Medicare patients call 1-800-MEDICARE to find their state’s SHIP or go to www.shiptacenter.org.
