On February 21, 2013, Scott Mertie and Jonathan Uttz of Kraft Healthcare Consulting presented the essential areas of the Medicare Cost Report which directly and indirectly affect cost settlements. The direct areas covered will include Disproportionate Share and Medicare Bad Debts, as well as reimbursement related to Teaching & Transplant. The indirect areas will include the importance of cost finding in order to have accurate cost to charge ratios which affect a variety of components including outlier reimbursement as well as the importance of accurately reporting the wage index and how it affects future payment rates.
