Medicare For All would effectively reduce the pay of Doctors, Nurses, and support staff. Look at the average pay for these professional in Scadinavia, the model that Bernie advocates for.
This aspect is not at all covered by the media.
+Derek Johnson Exactly my point. These are care professionals that work odd hours to care for sick people. They work outrageously long shifts and routinely are on call.
I am just not for a government take over and price setting that will result in lowering their pay. There are other ways to reform the system.
For those who consider doctors as privileged elite, think about the nurses who are changing bed pans during the graveyard shift.

They are paid well now in part b/c of long and odd hours, if this plan goes through, they are not going to pay them WELL (the same?) for less hours. That is not in the Medicare For All bill.

Red Pill I would like to correct your perception that Medicare for all would be less expensive. You know that healthcare providers can charge you the difference between the billed amount and the Medicare allowed amount, right? Also, right now, Medicare has a backlog of claim appeals back to 2011, 12, and 13. That means that hospitals, doctors, labs , equipment suppliers are not getting paid for 5-7 years. They are left financing the Medicare program with an already below cost reimbursement by Medicare. Google Competitive Bidding. How many providers are going to be left in business to supply you with a hospital bed, a walker, a wheelchair or oxygen equipment when the reimbursement doesn’t cover the cost? Next, I want you to Google LCD, local coverage determination, to see all the rules and regulations that suppliers need to follow for that miniscule payment. After that, THEN you can come back and tell me how affordable Medicare is. Don’t forget that you’ll also be responsible for 20% for your doctors visit and a limited number days that you can be in the hospital, nursing home or rehab, with huge deductibles, by the way.
