Bernie Sanders OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES Single-Payer Healthcare Medicare For All Plan On MSNBC Hayes

READ MY ARTICLE:

Senator Bernie Sanders appeared on MSNBC with Chris Hayes to speak about the recent “American Health Care Act” that was originally proposed by the Republicans to “repeal and replace”, however the vote never took place. The House Republicans were very divided on this bill because many Republicans felt that it was simply a watered down version of Obamacare, which some called “Obamacare-lite” or “RINO-Care”. President Trump pressured the Republicans to pass the bill, threatening that if they failed to pass, he would simply move on to other issues and leave Obamacare in place. Speaker Paul Ryan was forced to tell President Trump that he simply could not garner enough votes, and as a result, they decided to simply not have a vote on the bill. Senator Sanders was speaking on how it was a ‘victory’ that the GOP healthcare bill did not pass because 24 million Americans would lose insurance. While Senator Sanders was very happy that the GOP healthcare bill did not pass, he made sure to make it clear that this is not a stable position. Senator Sanders explained that they need to move in the direction of a single-payer healthcare plan. “Somehow or another they manage to provide healthcare to every man, woman, and child in their country at about half the cost that we do”. He continued, “Somehow the cost of prescription drugs in Canada is a fraction of what it is in the United States.” After explaining that the Canadians are able to have healthcare for all of their citizens, they also have an extremely lower cost for their healthcare than citizens of the United States of America do, he went on to explain how it is possible to bring in a single-payer, medicare for all system to the United States. “.. and move forward toward a medicare for all, single-payer program, and I’ll be introducing legislation shortly to do that.” As many had dubbed this Republican healthcare plan “Trumpcare” or “Ryancare” many are now dubbing this single-payer, medicare for all plan as “Berniecare”. Many Americans who voted for Bernie Sanders are extremely excited that he will be proposing this legislation because they believe that healthcare should be treated as a right, not a privilege. 1. I think going to a public option would be better it would be easier to pass then single payer but either one is a step in the right direction. Publication will be able to actually drive down premiums or be forced to provide better care.

  2. This is happening. The writing is on the frakking wall. We will not be stopped. Healthcare is a right, end of discussion. #bernie2020 #berniecratforever

    • ddstar You don’t anything about me, or my physical health, or my knowledge. People that think like you are the cause of all the problems in this world.

    • Want to “fix” healthcare?

      A) Stop lawsuits against doctors and hospitals. The premiums they pay in malpractice insurance is charged to us.

      B) Decrease the cost of medical school.
The high dollar student loans that doctors pay are charged to us.

      C) Pass a law that stops other nations from bidding the cost of pharmaceuticals that are researched and formulated in the U.S. down.
Pharmaceutical Co’s have 7 years to make their investment plus profit off of a medicine before it becomes a “generic” formula.
Because Canada and EU nations are paying so little, it is the U.S. that these companies look to in order to make their profits.
In other words, they pay less, so we have to pay more.
And since the U.S. is the leader in the pharmaceutical industry, other nations will have to pay or go without.

      D) Drop the arbitrary 7 years before generic formulary rule and replace it with a per basis time allotment that takes into account the money invested into a medication. This would allow the Pharma Co’s more time to make back their money plus profit instead of having to do it in seven years.
Why should a $3 million dollar med have the same time allotment as a $10 million dollar med?
Yes. Pharmaceutical companies exist to make a profit. Just like EVERY company.

  3. “Will be cheaper than what we have now.”

No it won’t. The debt on the US government will skyrocket. It’s already 105% debt to gdp. That means for every single penny america makes it goes to the banking system as debt payments. When the US Government defaults, thats it. No social security, no medicare, no healthcare, no college, no federal programs, NOTHING. Be very careful what you wish for.

    • You’re claiming the sky will fall without providing any empirical evidence of such statements to back it up. Bernie’s Medicare-For-All plan can be seen here: https://berniesanders.com/issues/medicare-for-all/

“Last year, the average working family paid $4,955 in premiums and $1,318 in deductibles to private health insurance companies. *Under this plan, a family of four earning $50,000 would pay just $466 per year to the single-payer program, amounting to a savings of over $5,800 for that family each year.*”

Singlepayer is the best system, we know this because we can objectively compare our healthcare costs to those of Scandinavia and other more progressive nations. When we do, we see that the United States of America spends more than every single nation on healthcare, and for much worse care for more than half of it’s nation.

So, in all — Cheaper medicine, better care and coverage, and a fraction of the cost we are paying now in healthcare. Families would save THOUSANDS.

    • ddstar You don’t even bother to read the link I provide, because if you did, you would clearly see how it was being payed for.

Let’s not forget that Medicare is being turned down by more doctors than ever.

According to CBO, Medicare will be insolvent. It’s on life support as we speak.

Single-payer systems (barely) work in nations like Canada because they have a fraction of our population and are NOT military superpowers.

Government exists to protect us from enemies, foreign and domestic, to maintain infrastructure and negotiate treaties.
It does not exist to provide us healthcare.

Furthermore, the government is all ready involved in our lives WAY TOO MUCH.
I don’t want politicians and bureaucrats knowing my health issues and I certainly do not want them making healthcare decisions for me.

  4. I have doubts of this passing due to a Republican controlled Congress, but we should get as many supporters of this bill for it as possible. If the Republicans block it while it has majority support within the Democratic party, we will come back even harder swinging in 2018 and 2020. #JusticeDemocrats #MedicareForAll #SinglePayerSystem

  5. Medicare is a failure…. so let’s put everyone on it.

When are we going to learn that the government can’t run anything effectively and affordably?
