What does Medicare Part D cover?

A question we hear all the time from customers is, What does Medicare Part D cover?

Great question!

Original Medicare, Parts A and B offers limited prescription drug coverage and does not cover most medications you take at home.

In order to get prescription drug coverage you need to enroll in Medicare Part D, either on a Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan, or through a stand-alone Medicare Part D Prescription Drug .

Once enrolled in Medicare Part D coverage, every plan must meet a minimum benefit level.

That minimum benefit must cover any Medicare-approved medications, on formulary that are prescribed by your doctor.

Medicare has neither reviewed nor endorsed this information.
